About the Be a Tree Program

The Be a Tree program takes 30-60 minutes of classroom time. This gives kids a great start in understanding the dog safety messages they receive during the program. The safety messages will be even more strongly ingrained if there is follow-up to reinforce the lesson.

Doggone Safe has consulted with teachers and early childhood educators in the US and Canada to produce a list of suggested activities, organized by grade level and discipline of study that are consistent with common curriculum requirements.

You can download a file that describes the suggested curriculum-based follow-up activities. Please let us know if you try other activities so that we can update our listing.

Saskatchewan Labour has reviewed the Be a Tree program and concluded that it "would be a valuable resource to be taught in Health Education Classes should it become a resource recommended by Saskatchewan Learning" and suggests that the Be a Tree materials could be used in conjunction with the Grow Up With Safety Program.
