Veronica is a stay-at-home mom and a self-proclaimed “army wife” who wanted to surprise her husband while he was away on training. Her goal was to slim her waistline enough to fit into a bikini that was one size smaller than her current measurements.

Veronica says she has always had trouble losing weight. But by wearing a waist trainer, she became more conscious of how much she was eating—and more motivated by the garment’s instant slimming effect. She started seeing results within two weeks, and when her husband finally returned home, he had a big reaction. Read this one-on-one interview with Veronica to see what happened.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a stay at home army wife, currently living in Hawaii. I babysit a 3-month-old baby girl, so I’m usually on my toes most days. I enjoy hiking and grilling on the beach.

  1. Why did you decide to try waist training?

My sister told me about your waist trainers actually. My husband was training in Louisiana back in February, and I wanted to see if he would see a difference in my body after using the waist trainer. Which he did! My goal was to look good in a bikini that I had bought one size smaller than my current measurements.

  1. What garments did you use, and why?

I used the waist trainer Best Waist Trainer by Hourglass Angel HA102, specifically because that’s the one my sister had gotten for herself. Once she let me try hers on, I knew that was the one I wanted, just by how my body came together. It was perfect.

  1. What were your first impressions?

My first time putting it on was a hassle. I didn’t think I was going to be able to clasp it together at all! I told my sister “I should’ve got a large because I can’t breathe!” We were both visiting at my mom’s house when she helped me put it on. My back was facing the mirror as we pinned it, but once I turned around I couldn’t stop laughing only because I looked so funny. Literally like an actual hourglass!

  1. What was your waist training routine?

I would wear my waist trainer every day for a few hours, except on weekends. My usage did increase a lot! Day one, I barely lasted an hour in it. But now I can put it on from the second I wake up until it’s time for bed. Which caught me by surprise, big time, so I know I’m doing something right.

  1. Did the garment meet your expectations? How so?

In a way, yes. It made my love handles more obvious—so I wish it would have pulled them in just a little bit more than what it did. I believe it only did so much because I got more comfortable wearing it, so not much difference was happening anymore.

  1. What were your diet and fitness habits during your waist training journey?

Honestly, not much. I ate regular unhealthy food. My metabolism did change though. So my routine would be that I had to fast for as long as I had my waist trainer on. Which helped a lot in the end because the longer I wore it, the longer I was fasting. So when it was time to eat I wouldn’t eat much at all. In the mornings I do an at-home workout in my living room, shower, then put on my waist trainer. So I would say I was actively working out but definitely not eating healthy.

  1. In the past, have you faced any challenges with weight-loss and/or fitness?

Yes, challenges in weight-loss most definitely! About two months ago I was weighing at my heaviest of 179. I finally got myself to 170 but could never break it. Now I’m at 165, but it’s so hard to go lower than that, and I don’t know why. If I put better work into it, then I know I could do it! I believe my waist trainer did help with pulling my body together and keeping my weight down. My weight goal is 145-150 so we’ll see!

  1. When did you start seeing results?

About two weeks in. I was surprised with how fast I saw a difference. Now that I’m at my finishing point, I’m so obsessed with how my body looks. It may look the same, but in my own body I feel better and different.

  1. Has anyone else noticed your results?

My husband most definitely can! When he got home from training, he hugged me and couldn’t believe that it was my waist he was holding. He asked me if I was hungry because I didn’t look like I’d been eating.

  1. What would you say to others who are thinking about trying waist training?

Do it even if you’re having second thoughts about it. You’d be surprised what you can get out of it. Even a small change can make a big difference. Patience and time is all you need.

How to start training your dog to run with you

In the beginning,  you should adjust the exercise to suit the health of both you and your dog, then gradually increase it each day. Before starting some workout regime, take your dog to the vet. You must be sure that they can do the exercise and have no pre-existing health issues that would worsen running.

  • Begin with a short race, maybe a 10-to-15-minute run along the most familiar race for your pet.
  • Raise your distance steadily weekly or each several weeks
  • During your practices, your puppy can be panting, not winded, yet.
  • Do not let yourself out of breath so that you do not have enough power to order them!

6 Rules When Running With Your Dog

Check Your Dog Before Start

Check your dog during and after the race for burrs, ticks, and pieces of broken glass. Barbed weeds can make their way not just through the fur but eventually deeply into the skin; more dangerously, your dog may need surgery.

You should also check  the inside of your dog’s body, like nose, back, paws, and so on, for any sharp substances. Place some boots on your pet’s feet if the ground is very rugged.

Know Clearly Your Breed

Different breeds have different running perform

According to Wharton’s Expert, the athletic and herding dogs are likely to make the longest distances. Small dogs, yet, can do great running companions, like terriers or chihuahuas. They can also have advantages over bigger ones: they are lighter, ensuring that when running, they feel less pressure.

In cooling themselves down, each breed of dog performs in a different way. For instance, short-snouted dogs, such as the bulls, are not good at breathing and, therefore, can easily get overheating.

So, understand your breed and have a suitable route.

Sniff In Moderation

Instinctively, the dog sniffles while walking as a means of recognizing the way home. They usually pee and sniff to do that. The main duty on the run, nevertheless, is running. You would like to maintain your dog’s pace and keep a constant rhythm.

From the start of the race, let the dog sniff, and then less sniffing times over the way. You should choose a wide road and run in the center so that fewer obstacles will confuse and drag the puppy. Your dog can progressively become used to sniffing less while running.

Positively Practice

By negative reinforcement, the exercise of control makes your dog act because of fear, not ease. You can also train your pet everything it needs to do with positive motivation and persistence.

To praise positive conduct, bring snacks along. If you think that the dog has the fidget, just stop going. Your puppy will finally learn how to behave well while keeping you from your run, all while staying relaxed and secure.

Stay positive with your partner

Use The Suitable Handheld Leash

Dogs that have just started running are unpredictable. You can guide, direct, slower, or pause the dog by the leash with you anytime you think this is needed. With beginner dogs, the hip-strung leashes can draw the trainer into risky situations, particularly lightweight ones. A portable leash gives you enough power.

On a leash, the dog can move without obstacles. Collars may not only have a strangling influence but also help you to keep your dog from dangerous obstacles instantly. A collar will help you take complete control of your pet if it is running after something that it shouldn’t, because a pull of the rope can’t do it.

Waste Problems

It is a terrible time to sprint with a bucket of dog feces. It would help if you prepared the running path to help your dog get close to where the public trash can locate. This is a vital factor if you want your run to be maximized. Design this “strategy” for your running race so that you are not stuck with a stinky pack for a long road.

Important tips for running with a dog

  • Always stay alert: whether they’re sleepy or uncomfortable, the dog can not warn you. When you are running alongside them, take note of some unspoken signals.
  • Drink a lot: remaining hydrated while running is vital for both you and your pet, so you have to note to bring water during the run. When running, dogs may suffer from dehydration easily.
  • Take care: after a race, clean the paws of your pet and look for any wounds or bruises. Infections may result from unprotected injuries.
  • Select carefully: choose routes and places that both of you would love. Running across grass would be safer, but beware of unknown dangers such as rabbit holes.
  • Keep it clean: you need to tidy up after your dog even though you are running at speed!

How To Make A DIY Pet Vest

Your pet is a handsome boy!? Do not worry! Nothing can show your pet’s beauty more than a suitable vest.

A dog vest

Materials

A vest is commonly made by:

    • Some fabric you like.
  • Butcher paper or newspaper that is big as your pet.
  • A marker to draw the line.
  • Nylon strips and fasteners from old stuff.
  • Sewing pins.
  • A coverstitch machine or needle and thread.
  • Hook and loop sticky back tape.
  • Clothes decorations.

There are required items in the least, but no rules here to make a vest. Follow your imagination and choose what you think is needed.

Instructions

#1 Build the paper frame of the vest

Fold the paper once into two equal parts and line it along your pet’s spine. Make certain your pet is not running wildly. Then, note one side of the paper depending on the size you want. If you are not a professional, do not worry about accuracy.

Remove the paper off the spine and place it flat, bent in half. Attach it so that the two pieces are matching. Next divine the paper into pieces with scissors along the marked line. Lay it again on your pet, and adjust it.

#2 Sew the clothing

If the paper meets your expectation, then scan it on the cloth, and fix two layers together by pins. Split the fabric with scissors according to the shape of the paper, estimating an inch more all around the seams in rest.

Turn to the other side of your fabric and pin it. Stitch the joints using thread which color you want.

Cut hook and loop tape into pieces then sew them to the foreside that locates in your pet’s chest. Needle your pattern with the thread that goes with the hook.

#3 Adjust the suitable size

Put the fabric on your pet and tighten the hook side. Make stitches one end of the strap on the cloth near to the bottom. Be sure your pet is safe because of the sharp stuff.

Remove the pattern and link the two sides. Stitch the other head of the strap to the opposing place.

Try it on your pet – whether the product lies exactly or not when you tie up the strips and the fastener is in the right spot. Proceed with the final adjustment, then sew it all together.

Now your pet is ready to go to a formal prom with a handmade vest!

How To Make A DIY Pet Dress

Look for a solution to save on pet dresses? These words can be great for everyday clothes or special occasions.

A dog dress

Materials

Prepare at least:

  • Fabric for top
  • Cotton cloth for the skirt
  • Cotton cloth for lining
  • Flannel bias tape
  • Two “D” rings
  • Velcro or hook and loop back tape
  • Ribbon to hang up the D rings and decorate the waist

You can even use other fabric for your pet as long as your pet likes it. The decorations add more so that the dress will be splendid.

Instructions

#1 Position stitches

Cut out one piece of fabric for the layout and the same one for the inside layer. Quickly stick them together with pins.

Cut velcro and stick it where your strap is. Using the flannel tape, sew two layers together, covering the hook and loop.

Put the dress frame on your pet and adjust to comfort.

Drape the skirt onto the dog while checking whether the length is ok or not, and cut it. The long “tail” can be on her way and hamper her legs. So cut it short!

#2 Sew the main parts

Take the top and the bottom of the fabric of the pet and sew separated pieces together at the waistline. Sew carefully the hem of the skirt so that the seams do not wear out.

Thread one D ring into a small part of ribbon (2 inches is enough for a tiny pet). Sew the ribbon around the waistline, you should choose the outstanding color for highlights. It is where you will attach to your leash.

Stitch the other D ring into another piece of the ribbon on the top fabric. Now you have got one D ring on the underneath of the dress and the other one on the outside of the dress. So if the leash tightens, the dress will not come apart (because it is sewed together with velcro).

In case any problems occur, you can use the ribbon to hide them. Well, you have reached the end of the DIY dress project, and your pet has a beautiful dress for her birthday!

Our article on How To Make A DIY Pet Prom Suit has shown some types of clothes that you can make for your pet, not only a vest, a dress, but also a shirt, a sweater, a jacket, shorts, skirt, even custom outfits such as skeleton, witch, Santa Claus, etc. The fabric is not a problem, too; just choose the one you feel suitable.

There is no limit for a tailor, do not worry! If you don’t have the experience, start with this article and follow the instructions, it may be hard at first, but you will recognize that it is beneficial and economical!
